A European company has ordered four firm tankers and one plus one options for additional vessels. China’s Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard has received an order for up to six chemical/oil tankers from the Greek ship owner Horizon Tankers Limited S.A.
The deal was confirmed by the shipyard in its official website. The two sides Zhoushan Changhong International Ship Repair Co. Ltd. and Horizon Tankers Limited signed the deal on the afternoon of May 16. The shipbuilder didn’t disclose any financial information.
The 50,000-dwt vessels are expected to be delivered during the second half of 2026 and 2027.
“The signing of the contract between the two sides in the field of new shipbuilding fully demonstrates the trust and affirmation of the shipowners to Changhong International,” the shipbuilder said in its statement.
Meanwhile on May 16, amid the festive sound of firecrackers and fireworks, the first two 11,500 container LNG dual-fuel container ships built by Changhong International for the shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping (MSC), completed the keel laying ceremony on Berth 2, marking the official new construction phase of the two ships.
The site representatives of MSC, DNV classification Society and Changhong International some middle and senior management and employees attended and witnessed the ceremony.
