Saudi Arabia National Shipping Company (Bahri), the Kingdom’s shipping and logistics provider, announced through Bahri Line, its dedicated arm for scheduled shipping and cargo services, the launch of a newbuild program for two dual fuel LNG-powered roll-on/roll-off container (RoCon) vessels, with an option for an additional two units.
The shipping company said Bahri Line has contracted Jingling Shipyard to build two firm RoCon vessels, with options for two additional units.
The new vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel LNG-powered engines and advanced energy-saving technologies to improve efficiency by about 10% compared to Bahri’s existing fleet.
In addition, the ships will be equipped with alternative marine power (AMP), enabling zero-emissions during port stays.
Additional hoistable decks will further enhance vehicle and rolling cargo capacity, providing greater adaptability to accommodate a wide range of cargo types.
The vessel design will also feature enhanced accommodation standards focused on crew comfort and wellbeing.
Headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bahri operates a fleet of 109 vessels, of which 107 vessels are owned (including 5 chemical tankers recently purchased), while two vessels are under long-term leases, as well as three floating seawater desalination barges, as of end-June 2026.
Following the end of the second quarter, Bahri signed a contract to build two new container and roll-on/roll-off vessels, increasing its newbuild orderbook to 12 vessels scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2030.
