According to the first information obtained by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of Türkiye at the Kocaeli Evyap Port there was an incident with a container ship while trying to dock at the port.

The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs revealed the incident on its social media account mentioning that on Saturday at 15:45, the Hong Kong-flagged container ship named “YM WITNESS”, a 368 meters long ship, encountered an incident at Kocaeli Evyap Port during docking, leading to the toppling of port cranes and containers from the ship to fall into the sea.

Thankfully, no casualties or environmental pollution is reported. Meanwhile the port authority is actively investigating the incident.

“According to the initial findings, no deaths or injuries were found in the incident, and no environmental pollution was reported, and our port authority started investigations at the scene,” as it is said on Saturday by the official X account of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.
