Eight crew members of a Chinese fishing boat are missing after it sank following a collision with a Singapore-flagged tanker in China.
The incident happened at about 12.08am Singapore time on December 26, near Chengshan Jiao, China.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore released the details after it received information from the China Maritime Safety Administration.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement on December 30 that was notified that a Singapore-flagged tanker, Pearl Kenzo, had collided with a Chinese-flagged fishing vessel, Suiyupu 0183, on 26 December at about 12:08 am (Singapore Time) near Chengshan Jiao, China.
The tanker was on its way to Zhoushan from Penglai, China, when the incident happened, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The China Maritime Safety Administration had informed MPA that the fishing vessel had sunk and eight crew onboard are missing.
The Chinese authorities had conducted search and rescue operations. All crew members onboard the tanker are safe. No pollution was reported in the vicinity.
The Chinese officials are reporting that after the accident the vessel has remained at Shidao anchorage while the investigation is underway.
