The CMA CGM Group announced today it is buying La Tribune, a leading digital business and finance media platform, with a presence across France and Africa.

CMA CGM is continuing its expansion into media after its investments in digital, broadcasting and regional daily press.

The expected acquisition aligns with the other media outlets within CMA CGM Medias.

La Tribune would “sit perfectly” as the company says, alongside the La Provence and Corse Matin newspapers acquired by CMA CGM in 2022, especially given its expertise in digital transformation and its unique profile in editorial events.

Following the acquisition of La Provence and Corse Matin and the acquisition of a minority stake in the M6 group, the Group also became a shareholder of the online media platform Brut in early April.

“CMA CGM aims to be a decisive player in innovation and transformation in the media sector,” said the Marseille-based CMA CGM Group, a global player in shipping and logistics.

The company considers this acquisition would strengthen La Tribune’s presence in the Marseille area and accelerate its development across the regions.

The completion of the transaction remains subject to consultation of employee representative bodies and to the necessary regulatory approvals.

La Tribune is a business and financial media platform with a presence across the regions. With a presence in 17 hubs in France and Africa, it is focusing on innovation, territories, and major economic issues (tech, climate and environmental transition, finance and industry).

It is further expanding internationally through La Tribune Afrique, established in Morocco in 2017, with its team based in Casablanca.

“It recorded the largest media audience growth between 2021 and 2022 in the digital news and information segment, with a 37% increase to 86.5 million visits. La Tribune generated a profit on revenue of €12 million in 2022,” in accordance with CMA CGM today´s statement.
