
Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) has reached an agreement with Fujitsu Limited to acquire all shares of YJK Solutions Co., Ltd. (YJK) held by Fujitsu, making YJK a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK.
YJK Solutions’ main businesses is the development, operation, and maintenance of IT systems that support shipping, port, and logistics operations, as well as the provision of IT engineering services.
Currently, the shareholders of Tokyo-headquartered YJK Solutions are Fujitsu Limited (51%) and NYK (49%).
The acquisition, which is scheduled to be completed on October 1, aims to strengthen the integration of the Group’s IT strategy with its IT system development and operational capabilities.
The main goal is to enhance the IT foundation that supports the sustainable growth of the NYK Group.
To further advance and improve the efficiency of the NYK Group’s IT functions, NYK plans to explore the integration of YJK with NYK Business Systems Co., Ltd., which is responsible for the Group’s IT operations.
