PCG helps injured Korean crew member of an LNG tanker

A 25-year-old Korean third officer onboard a Liberia-flagged LNG tanker needed urgent evacuation as he suffered from severed left fingertip.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday that it assisted a crew member of the LNG tanker Kmarin Diamond.

The PCG conducted a medical evacuation for an ailing Korean crew onboard the vessel in the vicinity waters of Rizal, Palawan, at around 5:26 pm on February 13.

Hyeok Kim, a 25-year-old Korean national and third officer, who suffered from severed left fingertip was successfully evacuated, as PCG reports.

The details of how Hyeok Kim received this injury have not been disclosed by the PCG.

As it is reported, the PCG command center immediately coordinated with the coast guard district Palawan and coast guard district National Capital Region – Central Luzon.

The injured crew was immediately disembarked at the rendezvous point in the vicinity waters of Mariveles, Bataan and was turned-over to his local agent.

The patient transported to Manila Doctors hospital for immediate medical attention, PCG said.
