Apeejay Shipping Limited, the privately owned shipowner based in Indian Kolkata, has announced the acquisition of a newly purchased 2005-built 76,620 DWT gearless panamax bulk carrier.

The vessel has been named Mv “APJ Jaouad” and is a significant milestone in the expansion strategy of the company, which has already added two gearless panamax vessels and one gearless kamsarmax vessel since last September to the fleet.

The fleet capacity as a result of these new purchased vessels has surged by 235,804 mt DWT, so the total fleet of Apeejay Shipping Limited now has eight vessels with a total of 558,801 mt DWT.

Apeejay Shipping mentions in its announcement, that it remains active in the coal movement along the Indian coast and the focus on dry bulk cargoes continues with the mix of supramax, panamax, and kamsarmax vessels.
