The vessel constructed in 1999 – with an overall length of 153.38 meters, a gross tonnage of 10,471 MT, and a carrying capacity of 1624 lane meters or approximately 110 trailers – will be renamed M/S Lakeway Express.
The new purchased vessel will be deployed in Lakeway Link’s new service connecting Poland and Sweden, which is scheduled to start in April, initially offering three weekly departures between Gdynia in Poland and Södertälje in Sweden.
The company also reveals that intends to expand its services to include additional traffic to Västerås in Sweden by 2026 following the reconstruction of the Södertälje locks.
By introducing a regular line service with fixed departures, with traditional RoRo services for trailers, and efficient handling of shipments, Lakeway Link wants to offer an alternative or complement to road and rail transportation, reads the statement of Lakeway Link.
Fredrik Hermansson, chief executive of Lakeway Link, said that “I’m extremely happy to announce that our anticipated service between Poland and Sweden is now launching in line with previous notifications. It is with high ambitions that we introduce this new service to the market, not only enabling efficient transportation but also reducing environmental impact by utilizing waterway.
