As reported by Shipping Telegraph on September 15, the Faroe Island-based Smyril Line has purchased the RoRo cargo ship “Seagard” from the Finland-based shipping company Bore Ltd.
Smyril Line in its statement yesterday unveiled that officially took over the vessel and has renamed it “Glyvursnes” under the Faroe Island registry and flag.
The RoRo vessel “Glyvursnes” was built 1999 at the Sietas Shipyard Hamburg, Germany and it is 7,226 dwt, 153,5 metres long and 20,6 metres wide.
The “Glyvursnes” is now docked at Fayard in Munkebo, Denmark where she will stay until December 30 before setting off for the Faroe Islands for going into regular Smyril Line service between Tórshavn Faroe Islands, Þórlakshöfn in Iceland and Hirtshals in Denmark.
With this vessel delivered, Smyril Line has now 6 vessels in its fleet portfolio.
