The Seattle (WA) based ship design company Glosten announce that it has been contracted by American Marine Corporation (AMC) to deliver the complete vessel design and engineering package for two new 122-foot oceangoing line-haul tugs.
Based on Glosten’s existing CT-120 tug concept, the tugs have been developed in close collaboration with AMC to reflect decades of operational experience while delivering the capability, range, and reliability required for demanding offshore service.
Each tug has a usable fuel capacity of 130,000 gallons and is expected to deliver over 85 mt of bollard pull.
The new tugs will be a notable addition to the US fleet at a time when purpose-built oceangoing line-haul tug construction has become increasingly rare, as Glosten mentions.
They also represent AMC’s first new-build tugs in its 50-year history and will launch the first shipbuilding program at New Pacific Industrial’s Vancouver, Washington facility with delivery of the first vessel in 2028.
