Mv Freesia Leader at Nagoya port

Japanese shipping conglomerate NYK held on 24th July at the port of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture a commemorative delivery ceremony for Mv “Freesia Leader”, the fifth LNG-fueled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) operated by NYK, in order celebrate the vessel’s arrival and pray for its safe voyage.

The company states that the “Freesia Leader” is the third of four LNG-fueled PCTCs constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd. In China, and that the new PCTC vessel was named after the freesia flower in the hope of realizing and passing on a prosperous global environment through eco-friendly transportation.

Furthermore, it was announced by NYK, that the Mv “Freesia Leader” will be transporting finished vehicles for the Toyota Motor Corporation and other customers seeking to reduce their environmental impact in logistics.

Mv “Freesia Leader” is sailing under the Liberian flag, and is 199.90m LOA, 38.0m beam, 71,846 gt and with a loading capacity of 7,000 units.

At the Port of Nagoya, the vessel bunkered new LNG fuel from Mv “Kaguya”, which is an LNG-bunkering ship operated by Central LNG Marine Fuel Japan Corporation, being a joint venture company owned by NYK and other companies.
