The Singapore shipbuilder Penguin International Limited (Penguin) announced via their social media that it by Ministry of Defence of Singapore was awarded a turnkey contract for the design, engineering and construction of two landing craft for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The shipbuilder informs that this is Penguin’s first naval shipbuilding programme as a prime contractor. The shipyard was founded in 1976 and have spent five decades building up our capabilities across vessel operations, engineering, shipbuilding, project management, systems integration and life-cycle maintenance.
The Penguin shipyards in Singapore and Batam have delivered close to 400 vessels to commercial and government operators across more than 20 countries, and these collective capabilities have now enabled the company to venture into a bold new frontier being Naval Defence.
The RSN landing craft programme will be executed entirely in Singapore and will draw upon Penguin’s in-house engineering, production and project management resources at our Tuas shipyard. The award also follows the recent successful delivery of the first of six large carbon-fibre composite superstructures for the RSN’s Multi-Role Combat Vessel programme.
