ROC secures order for six chemical tankers from European shipowner

Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries subsidiary Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (ROC) disclosed a newbuilding contract covering six 13,000-dwt stainless-steel chemical tankers, including optional vessel orders. The counterparty was identified as an undisclosed European shipowner.

Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries did not disclose specific information about the shipowner, stating only that the shipowner is a well-known European company.

Sources identify Sweden’s Rederi AB Veritas Tankers as the buyer, although the shipowner has not publicly confirmed its involvement.

The announcement revealed that the new vessels will have an overall length of 132 meters and breadth of 21.8 meters, offering adaptability for navigation through narrow waterways and flexibility to handle complex navigation conditions in Northern Europe.

For Rainbow, the deal adds in its portfolio another European customer to its business.

The Chinese group said the company’s order book has been optimized, the proportion of high-end special vessel orders has steadily increased, and its brand influence in the European market has been further enhanced after the successive landing of multiple European orders.

“ROC is gradually becoming the preferred partner of leading global shipowners, and its pace of international development is becoming increasingly solid,” the group’s statement reads, adding that this order marks the company’s continued recognition by major international shipowners in the stainless-steel chemical tanker sector.
