Thailand’s Prima Marine has sealed a major order for six product tanker newbuildings in China on January 18. The total order price and delivery date have not yet been announced.
The deal covers six 2,499-dwt product tankers to be built at Ningbo Zhenhe Shipyard and CSTC Shanghai based on the FKAB design.
The 60-year-old family owned ship design company FKAB Marine Design will deliver the ship designs for the six newbuildings.
“We are proud to present the newbuilding project of 6 very small product tankers that Thailand ship owner Prima Marine have signed with Ningbo Zhenhe Shipyard and CSTC Shanghai, on 18 January 2025,” FKAB Marine Design said.
The 73-m-long product tankers, FKAB-designed, will be tailor developed for easy and efficient operation in Thailand coast and rivers.
The newbuilds will feature several energy saving and environmental solutions implemented into the design, including the low resistance FKAB patent F-Bow hull form, bio-diesel prepared main engine, shaft generator and LED lighting. It is also included a bow thruster and flap rudder for “good manoeuvrability” and five pairs of epoxy coated cargo tanks and one pair of slop tanks.
The main propulsion consists of a high efficiency fixed pitch propeller, FKAB Marine Design said, driven by a bio-diesel prepared 4-stroke engine.
