South Korean shipping giant HMM has secured stable profitability in the first half of 2026, reporting total revenue of KRW 6,121bn.
Net profit stood at KRW 765bn, while operating profit reached KRW 623bn.
As a result, HMM recorded an operating margin of 10.2% for the six-month period.
In the second quarter, revenue reached KRW 3,402bn. The carrier posted a net profit of KRW 411bn, and an operating profit of KRW 354bn.
The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) averaged 1,957 points in H1 2026, up 15% from 1,701 points a year earlier.
HMM said their stable profitability amid market volatility was driven by fuel cost optimization, maximizing fleet efficiency through its ‘Hub & Spoke’ strategy and capturing new demand in Southeast Asia.
For the third quarter, the company sees rise in market uncertainty due to supply chain risks like the United States tariffs, port congestion and geopolitical conflicts.
The company has invested KRW 10 trillion over the past 15 months.
Looking ahead, HMM will continue investments under its expanded KRW 29 trillion mid-to-long-term strategy for 2030. The purpose is to strengthen the carrier’s future competitiveness and growth.
