Greece’s ONEX Shipyards & Technologies and Antipollution, a member of Vyron Vasileiadis-led V Group, have sealed a strategic deal for the design and construction of four eco-vessels, with an option for four more.

The agreement was signed in the context of the international maritime exhibition Posidonia 2026 in Athens, in the presence of the Greek minister of maritime affairs and insular policy, Vasilis Kikilias, underscoring the significance of the project for the national economy and Greek shipbuilding.

The project forms part of Vasileiadis Group of Companies (V Group) €2bn investment programme through 2030, focused on sustainable infrastructure, environmental services, energy transition and innovative technologies.

According to a relevant announcement, the new vessels will be fully designed and built in Greece, utilizing the facilities of Elefsis Shipyards and the Syros Shipyards (Neorion) of the ONEX Group. The vessels will be classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classification society.

The vessels under construction will incorporate cutting-edge technologies for the protection of marine environment and the management of ship waste.

Vyron Vasileiadis, chairman and chief executive officer of Vasileiadis Group of Companies (V Group), stated: “We strongly believe in Greece, in the capabilities of the Greek maritime industry, and in the future of Greek shipbuilding. We are proud that Vasileiadis Group of Companies (V Group) is the first company to undertake such a significant investment in a new generation of specialised eco vessels to be built in Greece.”

ONEX Shipyards & Technologies stated that the agreement confirms the capabilities of Greek shipyards to undertake specialized shipbuilding programs for the needs of the international market, while underlining the role of Elefsis and Syros in the development of technologies related to green shipping.
