London-based Lomar Shipping, ship-owning and management group, confirmed the acquisition of three ‘Dolphin 57’ supramax bulkers. Furthermore the company added already to its fleet portfolio the 57,038-dwt Oslo Trader (ex ‘Ariadne’, built in 2010), while the 2012-built 56,702-dwt Lima Trader (ex ‘Universal Bangkok’) and 57,075-dwt Rome Trader (ex ‘Haut Brion’), built in 2011, will be delivered later this month.
All three vessels are Chinese-built, increasing Lomar´s bulk cargo carrying capacity to nine bulk carriers.
These acquisitions represent part of the company´s ongoing bulk carrier fleet expansion program.
Earlier this year Lomar Shipping which is led by CEO Nicholas Georgiou offloaded an elderly chemical tanker to its new owner as part of its fleet renewal strategy.
Lomar Shipping, which is a subsidiary of the privately-owned global business Libra Group, delivered the chemical tanker ‘Apollo’ to her new owners, Navigator Line Ship Management and Operation, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
The 2003-built vessel of 24,000 deadweight was sold for close to $10 million.
The tanker was the oldest of six chemical tankers, including four 38,000-deadweight chemical/products tankers, that joined Lomar’s fleet following the acquisition of Germany’s Bremen-based tanker specialist Carl Büttner Group, which has since been integrated into the Lomar group of companies.
